On January 14, 2010 at 1:22 pm, Glenn Beck interviewed Sarah Palin in New York by the Statue of Liberty. The subject of the interview was “Trust.” Palin said that in Politics it is very hard to trust. This I believe is true. But, it is not hard to trust just in politics but in life itself! Glenn said that he couldn’t believe people were like this! But, they are! In the interview there were a few things that kind of struck me with uneven emotions. Glenn and Palin said that our government is in for a change, but what I would like to know is what kind of change!? (Because God only knows what is running through Obama’s evil little brain that he has in that massive head of his!) They also talked about this generation of voters, that we do not understand everything and we just vote on what sounds good not on anything moral….. I guess that is where we come in! We need to share with this generation the morals that our candidates have along with what they stand for! I think that might make for a stronger defense. Also, Glenn started to share some statistics that he had regarding both of them and here they are…

Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are……

#1 and #2 Halloween costume of the year.

They have both been called “stupid” on SNL.

Both on The Most Admired People of the World list.

Both been on major magazine covers.

They are also on the Top 5 most Hated People list.

They have both been told “That they just don’t get it.”

All I have to say is that I would be Sarah Palin any day of the week! On that most admired list Glenn Beck comes in second after Obama in the men’s category and Sarah Palin comes in first place for the women’s category Michelle Obama comes in like 5th place. (She shouldn’t even be on the list in my opinion!)

After this, they start to discuss the Health care plan and Beck asks Palin if she thinks that it is Constitutional and she reply’s saying, “I don’t believe that it is Constitutional, I believe it violates the tenth amendment, I believe it usurps that states rights, I believe that is a wrong head thing that Obama is trying to shove down the people’s throats and I know people are out ragged and I can’t believe that the people on Capitol Hill are not listening to the outrage of the people and still want to see this thing be shoved down our throats.” And then she says, “If they think it is principled then let me know what their principles are.” You go Palin! Tell them the truth! There are no principles to this bill because this bill isn’t solid it isn’t stable and it’s not going to work! Well, I hope and pray that this bill does not get passed. And hopefully Palin will decide to run for president because that might actually happen! This is just what I got out the interview but you can watch it for yourself at GlennBeck.com. Let me know if you have anything to say about the blog, I would love to get your feedback! Thanks for talking the time to read my blog! Hope you guys have an awesome day! BYE!!

SARASOTA, FL – 09/09/09 – This coming Friday, a sea of 2,977 American flags is planned to be set up at Patriot’s Park in Venice as a memorial to those 2,977 innocent American lives that were taken by terrorists on September 11th, 2001. The event will be hosted by a group of high school and middle school students called The Young Conservatives of Sarasota, who have collected donations to purchase the flags.

Named the “9/11 Never Forget Project”, similar flag displays have taken place on many college campuses across the nation in previous years. “The thing that makes this event special is that kids between the ages of twelve and eighteen are the ones doing the work to honor our the firefighters, police, military and civilians who lost their lives on 9/11,” says The Young Conservatives of Sarasota’s Director, Stryker Watts.

“It’s all about freedom. Our freedom was deeply threatened on 9/11. We need to keep that memory fresh – after 9/11, our world was changed forever, and we must be consistently supportive of those fighting to protect our freedom.”

Volunteers for the 9/11 Never Forget Project will begin setting up the flags at 7am, and will have the display completed at 9am for the public to enjoy. Patriot’s Park is located at:

800 Venetian Bay Blvd.

Venice, FL 34285

If you haven’t heard yet, The Young Conservatives and the Dan Quiggle Campaign were unfairly put down today on a blog called JaxPoliticsOnline.com, with regards to our last blog post by David C. about our Dan Quiggle campaigning trip.

Click here for the article (look under the section “Ronald Reagan for State Senate”).

First of all, we know that Dan Quiggle is an amazing candidate, and this article is seriously scraping the barrel to find anything negative about him. The article takes an almost ridiculously negative slant on some things in Quiggle’s past, such as his defeat of a $250 million tax increase in the City of Jacksonville. Last I heard, it’s a good thing when citizens pay attention to their local government and get involved to hold politicians accountable!

The negativity continues in our favorite line:

“And, more than 21 years after the former President left office (and 20 years after Quiggle worked at the Reagan Presidential Library), it appears as if Quiggle will to go to any lengths highlight his time with Reagan, despite the fact that he had no hand in shaping Reagan’s agenda during his years in office. As one member of the Young Conservatives blogged, he’ll even break out the Reagan pictures to wow young volunteers and regale them with stories of having attended Reagan’s funeral before letting them play with his dog, Reagan.”

Make of it what you want, but it sure sounds like the article is portraying us as so simple-minded that we’re swayed by some Reagan memorabilia (which was pretty awesome though). Our volunteers did not drive across the state and work 240 hours just to play with Mr. Quiggle’s dog! As young conservatives, each and every one of us have real principles and real ideals that drive us to do what we do. Dan Quiggle embraces our principles like very few candidates for public office do, and that is why we are proud to support him!

The article is ended with a nice sour note in one of the last lines: “With no track record in public office, it’s hard to know how Dan Quiggle would operate as a State Senator.” Wow, there’s obviously a little dislike for Tallahassee outsiders there! Ever heard of a fresh perspective? Why is it a considered a bad thing that Quiggle will be new? From what I’ve seen, it’s often the new, lesser-experienced legislators who bring in the best new ideas and solutions because they can honestly are speak from a citizen’s perspective!

Let’s hope the voters of FL Senate District 8 see through all the rhetoric coming from people afraid of change and new ideas and realize how fortunate they will be to have Dan Quiggle representing them in Tallahassee!

The Young Conservatives recently came back from a trip to Jacksonville to campaign for Dan Quiggle, who’s running for Senate. I also went with them, going door-to-door hanging up flyers on the door-knobs which told a little bit about Dan and his achievements, as well as things he’ll do if (when) he gets elected. I feel that I know so much more about how a campaign works now than I did before, even though I have helped campaign for other conservative candidates before.

Four YCS guys and I stayed at the condo of the campaign manager, with two other guys from the campaign; (the condo has three rooms, so there was plenty of room). Our guys loved it because not only did he have a wide-screen TV with a library of HD DVDs, but he also had an Xbox! However, we only had time in the evenings to play because our main reason for going was to campaign.

Our days started out at approx. 7 am, & we were at the campaign office at around 7:30. The campaign was very generous because when we first got there on Thursday, they had pizza and drinks available for us, and then briefed us on what we were going to be doing. They basically told us that on Thursday and Friday we would just be hanging the pamphlets on the door. On Saturday, though, we would be knocking on the doors and actually talking to people, since more people are likely to be home than on weekdays. So after our briefing, Mrs. Watts drove us out to our neighborhood we would be walking and dropped me off with Santi, and an adult from the campaign. Then we walked door-to-door. But we only went to republican houses that had residents who voted in the past four elections, so we had quite a bit of walking distance.

But later that day, rain kept us from walking further; so the three car-loads met up and we drove back. That gave the guys staying at the condo a chance to unpack and get settled. I brought my blow-up mattress with me, so I was good to go for the two nights we were there.

Friday morning we went to Starbucks for our morning “fix” before starting, and after a day of walking houses, The Young Conservatives were invited to a party at Dan Quiggle’s house, and let me tell you that he has a nice house. It was right next to a golf course, and Dan told us that some well-known professional golfers even lived in some of the houses beyond the golf course. We also got to meet Dan’s family & his dog, Reagan.

But the only thing better than his house was his pool. It had several sections to it with a water slide, and all decorated with plants and trees. We had Chick-fil-A (compliments of the campaign) and then dived in from the 10 ft wall. We even got the honors of seeing Dan do his famous back-flip from it! His pool also has under-water speakers. While playing man-hunt later than night on the golf course, I sprained my big toe while chasing after someone going down a slope. So that meant that I wouldn’t be going door-to-door the next day. But instead I helped Mrs. Watts in the front seat of her van as “co-pilot”, helping her find the different streets with the map that the campaign gave us.

I did hobble up a few drive-ways, though, and knocked on the doors.

But the good news is what Dan had told us the night before at the pool party. He said that we had hit the record of most houses visited in one day! He said the campaign together had visited 2,000 houses, but The Young Conservatives alone had visited about 1,000 houses! He said that was the most houses visited he had ever heard of. We were all very excited to have done so much work for such a conservative guy.

Dan also took us into his office and showed us pictures of him with Ronald Reagan. He also told us all about working for him after he was president. He said that he attended Reagan’s funeral and that he got a personal letter from Nancy Reagan afterwards telling him how much she appreciated Dan. He also got one of the flags that was flown on the White House drive during his funeral!

I just thought that was one of the coolest things ever! Imagine a guy who has morals just like that of Ronald Reagan! We desperately need this man to become one of our senators, and I’m pretty sure he’s gonna win, too. The campaign told us that the elections are going to held earlier than it was before.

That was good, said Brian, because that gave the other candidates less time to prepare, and the Dan Quiggle campaign was already so far ahead. Plus, one of the candidates had dropped out on that Friday. So that leaves Dan and three other candidates now.

We woke up Sunday morning and packed up our stuff and loaded it in the cars. We drove home and didn’t get home until about 11:00ish. It was fun, but it was also tiring. But what an opportunity to help a guy like Dan! What an opportunity.

Okay. So I was just watching Glenn Beck with my mom and I was suddenly inspired to write a blog after I saw something.
On Glenn Beck, they showed a clip of some actress (I never heard of her..) saying that us conservatives have just been having all these tea parties, because Pres. Obama is black. What On Earth?!? I mean – it seems that everyone is turning to racism for an excuse. What does the color of his skin have to do with ANYTHING?
And also, on Glenn Beck, they showed the viewers a clip of President Bush saying a few years ago when he was being protested regarding the war in Iraq, how great it was that people can protest and how it showed how free our country is. Contrast that to now when the current President Obama, PRETENDS he doesn’t know anything about the Tax Day Tea Parties.
On top of that, the media pays no attention to the protests. They are too busy writing about something they wrote about 2 weeks ago. The media just doesn’t want to talk about it because they don’t know how to respond to the tea party protests. (Because we’re right!)

Anyways, just a sudden inspiration from the Glenn Beck show to write a blog.

So I have not written a blog in quite some time now with summer internships and whatnot but have you ever had one of those moments where everything just seems to click? As some of you may know I have been working at Congressman Vern Buchanan’s office along with Stryker as an intern. I complete many different duties at the office but one of my on-going tasks is answering phone calls from concerned constituents. I would think that pretty much everyone is somewhat aware that there are some BIG changes coming for our health care system. I am obviously a Republican and I am VERY against what President Obama is proposing. I am hearing so many calls from Congressman Buchanan’s REPUBLICAN constituents that they are in favor of this bill.

I am VERY convinced that many of these people are not fully aware of what exactly this bill promises. Granted, I am not in any way a complete expert on the whole bill but it is now obvious that if the the Republican party does not make a greater effort in trying to get out the truth about this bill and informing Republicans to call their local officials then we will be on the fast track to exactly what Obama’s plans are. And in case you haven’t noticed yet, his plans are far from the Republican dream… So please, I will be looking forward to hear from some fired up Republicans next time I answer Vern’s phone.

I was at an IHOP a couple weeks ago enjoying their delicious food, when in walked three guys (apparently geeks, because one of them looked like Napoleon Dynamite. Literally, I’m not joking.) One of the other guys, though, had on an Obama T-shirt. My first thought after seeing that shirt was ‘Oh, great. There goes my appetite out the window!’ But after further consideration (after considering throwing spitballs at them), I remembered that that guy has his constitutional rights to wear that shirt. While walking around the mall, though, a few days ago, I saw another guy wearing an Obama shirt. It made me think, ‘What do they see in that guy who wants to bankrupt America & steal money right out of their pockets that makes them want to wear his face on their chest?’ It makes me shake my head in disbelief. I mean, Obama’s big slogan is “Change” right? Well, the way I figure it, give it a little while & pretty soon that’s all that’ll be left in our pockets! I mean really!

Perhaps you’ve seen that picture of that bum sitting on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign that says, “I’m like Obama, I want change.” I mean, hey, Obama didn’t specify what kind of change he wanted to introduce to America. I could go to my mom & say “Hey, mom, I want to change the color of my room.” But I don’t tell what color I want to change it to.

Imagine her shock when she comes home one day to find my walls hot pink, swamp green, with baby blue stripes. Eeeww!!!!

But now that Obama is the president of our great nation, I’m hoping that people will realize what they’ve gotten themselves into. Here’s another analogy: everybody likes change, everybody wants change, & everybody expects change. When you’re at the check-out counter at the store, you expect that you’ll get some change back. But how many of these first-time voters who voted for Obama are checking their change when they get it to make sure that it’s the change they were supposed to get? Do they even know the change they were supposed to get? Or are they just taking it & shoving it into their pockets without stopping to see what it is?

Let’s say that Obama does make a mistake some day (which I’m not saying is highly probable) that makes everybody suddenly not like him. What kind of shirts are they gonna’ have then? Maybe one that says “I want my change back!” Change is a very broad term. It could mean anything good or bad. Nobody really cares about the little change (pennies, nickels, etc.) But everybody wants their big change, like their dollar bills. Everybody is looking at Obama to see his big change, like stopping the war. But are they looking at his little changes, like signing the tobacco regulation bill that will hurt the economy? Those little changes are the ones that can make the bigger changes in America. So next time you want some “change”, America, make sure it’s a good kind of change.

We live in a predominantly Conservative nation with a liberal culture. Liberals hold the colleges, the schools, the news (with a few notable exceptions) and right now the government. Our job as young conservatives is to change that liberal dominance in America. To do that we must do three things:

A. Win electoral victories!

B. Change the psychology of the American people which seems to think of the government as a benevolent grandmother intent on spoiling them with free gifts such as free healthcare, Farm Subsidies, Social Security, ect.

C. We must take back the Liberal dominated schools and colleges.

Then we will be able to turn back the tide of the welfare state. Then we will be able to implement common sense economic policies. That’s change I can believe in.
